ABSTRACT

The Covid-19 pandemic greatly disrupted educational systems around the world. Gi-ven their extensive stakeholder network, Schools and Colleges of Education played an important role in providing leadership across all dimensions of education throug-hout the pandemic. This paper presents results from an interview-based study of Deans of Schools of Education in the United States with a special focus on how they sought to address issues of diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the pan-demic. Results show that while there was a great deal of variability in the responses of Deans and Schools of Education many promising practices emerged that are po-tentially scalable and shareable to other institutions.

ABSTRACT

Voluntarily work is very significant. Due to the significance of such work, the researchers explored the attitudes of outstanding students at the Arab Academic College for Education in Israel and students at other colleges in Israel towards voluntarily work during the COVID-19 crisis. Students filled in two scales. The first scale included 34 items. It collected data on the motives of volunteering. The second scale involved 10 items. It collected data about the benefits of volunteering in the future. The researchers used quantitative research methods. Data were collected from 100 students. The researchers used descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The results indicate that there is a correlation between the feelings of outstanding students at the Arab college and other excellent students in other colleges;they feel that by volunteering they express their values and talents, and that they are granted independency in making decisions and salient reasons for volunteering: creating a better society, meeting the expectations of the programme coordinator, feeling good, volunteering in a field in which they will closely engage in the future and identifying the goals of the programme and the project in which they are participating.

ABSTRACT

This braided essay weaves together the reflective journey of a school administrator traversing through a doctoral program during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic while considering her Problem of Practice in the current context of her school, local community, and global society. The ongoing challenges of a rural 3rd-5th consolidated school struggling through school improvement to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students are examined, while analyzing the place-based education model as it pertains to the current global pandemic and present state of education. While examining the issue of racial discipline disproportionality in the local context, this essay also addresses the potential implications upon both the local school and overall state of education by fostering a strong sense of place within and through the implementation of place-based educational practices.
